2018年7月で結成15周年を迎える新潟在住アイドル・ユニットNegicco のリーダー、Nao☆の30歳の生誕を記念したソロシングル。タイトル曲「菜の花」は作詞をNao☆自身が、作曲を北川勝利、編曲を北川勝利とTansaが担当。カップリング曲「ハッピーエンドをちょうだい」は、作詞を岩里祐穂、作曲・編曲を長谷泰宏 (ユメトコスメ)が担当。また、ジャケット写真とアーティスト写真は、モデル、フォトグラファーとして活動する柴田ひかりが撮影。さらにMVはNegicco初のワンカット撮影となっている。
